The particular business unit that is in need of a Marketing Director has been in existence for a decade and has more than tripled in size. Relying on a distribution network to get their products to the healthcare provider, the Director of Marketing is accountable for developing and implementing the strategic marketing plans necessary for long-term product growth and profitability and for directing current operations.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the VP/General Manager, this position directs the marketing activities. The Director of Marketing MUST have experience with capital equipment, manufacturing and distribution.
The Director of Marketing's primary role is to develop short- and long-term plans and strategy for multiple products with the divisional departments, to recommend and gain executive approval, and to provide leadership in their effective implementation so as to meet desired goals.
He/She will become “the face of the company” at trade shows, with direct customers and with each distributor. The Director of Marketing will be a great leader and manager of people – whether they directly or indirectly report to the position.
Four Product Managers report directly to the Director of Marketing. Having some experience with product development is expected, but he/she will have a broader, traditional marketing experience and strategic view. The candidate should have a mechanical aptitude, but not necessarily be an engineer.

In addition, the incumbent assists in the development of ideas for new products, develops the maximum allowable manufacturing cost, and determines the sales price and projects the potential market for the equipment. The position ensures compliance with all governmental regulations related to product development and leads the development of technical information manuals on the products.
This position also oversees creating of advertising campaigns based on forecast of sales and profitability of product. Working with the Director of Sales, the Marketing Director creates sales promotion programs, which includes sales training, sales seminars, dealer meetings and seminars, regional sales meetings with the sales force, creation of exhibits and displays.
Additional Comments:
In addition to having direct, relevant experience to the items listed above, candidates must have a BS in Marketing or Communications. MBA strongly preferred. Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience required. Some travel required, including 1-2 trips internationally. Medical device and/or healthcare capital equipment experience preferred; not required. Relocation assistance offered.”
